Hello, it's nice to meet you
My name is Ken, and I'm a qualified landscape technologist.
I still love to get my hands dirty in the garden, greenhouse, and vegetable patch.
Of course one of my big loves is... roses.
I've pruned for exhibitions, friends, family, along highways and city streets, in commercial nurseries, city parks, courtyards, botanical gardens, show gardens, you name it!
My studies include horticulture, pest management, greenhouse management, turf-grass management, irrigation planning, and growth media studies.
When it comes to taking care of our roses,
there is something zen about the pruning process.
But it's not for everyone, that's for sure.
Most of us out there are either too afraid to deal with the saga and technicalities of pruning our roses, or we simply don't know how to go about it. There's the fear of failure, the possibility of killing your plants, pruning too much, or pruning too little. How does this all work!?
We live busy lives,
life gets in the way,
and these kinds of garden chores just don't get done.
That's where I come in - and you're in good hands.
In South Africa, every July and August, and September - all depending on where you live and what your weather is like - your roses will absolutely enjoy and thrive with a proper pruning session paired with some basic love and care post-pruning.
Also, some light summer pruning can be beneficial for certain varieties. But no need to stress, I'm here to cut through all the confusion and help you with all your rose pruning needs.
While this is not a blog about "how to prune your roses" but more an advertisement of my available services and skills, I will definitely touch on some interesting facts, throw out some hints and tips, and of course add value to you wherever I can as time goes by, if I do manage ot write a few blog posts.
